"Senator McConnell objects to his own proposal to lift the debt ceiling. Senate Democrats react."
From Senate Democrats
It's hard to know whose right here unless you go through the whole story and do the research on it because even though I'm a registered Democrat, I tend not to automatically take the word of politicians, even politicians that I tend to agree with, like Dick Durbin, the Assistant Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate.

But this sounds like that Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the 2nd ranking Republican in the entire U.S. Congress, with only Speaker of the House John Boehner out ranking him in Congress on the Republican side, offered a bill to extend the debt ceiling. And Senate Democrats, led by Majority Leader Harry Reid, simply took McConnell up on the offer and McConnell objected to that. Perhaps not expecting Senate Democrats to say yes. If this is true, then this a bad case of Congressional obstructionism 101.
